What to do if you need money in a foreign country...

When you are in a foreign country, the most convenient way to get foreign currency is to use your ATM debit card or use your Visa card to make purchases. These two methods allow you to take advantage of the exchange rate on the day you withdraw the funds or make the purchase.

Make sure to exchange any leftover foreign currency before you return to the United States in order to get the best rate. STAR does not offer this currency exchange back to United States currency.
