Opt Out
Would you like to stop receiving unsolicited credit card offers, unwanted mail and phone calls?
You may receive unsolicited credit card offers in the mail because under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Consumer Credit Reporting Companies (Equifax, Experian, Innovis, and TransUnion) are permitted to include your name on lists used by creditors or insurers to send preapproved offers of credit or insurance that are not initiated by you. The information is never directly supplied by Star Commmunity Credit Union. You can protect yourself by exercising your right from the FCRA to "Opt-Out", which prevents Consumer Credit Reporting Companies from providing your credit file information for five years or permanently.

DMAchoice is an online tool developed by the Direct Marketing Association to help you manage the direct mail marketing material (junk mail) you receive. This site is part of a larger program designed to respond to consumers' concerns over the amount of mail they receive. With credit offers, catalogs, magazine offers, donation requests, retail promotions, and other mailings, you can choose whether or not you want to receive mail from various companies one at a time. Or, if you prefer, you can choose to stop receiving mail from all companies you haven't purchased from or donated to within an entire category. Any choices you make will be effective for three years from the date you make them.

The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. After you have registered, most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at the do Not Call Registry website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free. Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do Not Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. More than 157 million phone numbers are on the National Do Not Call Registry.
