Chico Community Scholarship Association
STAR Community Credit Union supports the Chico Community Scholarship Association with an annual donation of $700. The mission of the Chico Community Scholarship Association is to provide scholarship assistance by facilitating the establishment and awarding of scholarships to deserving graduating seniors of the Chico Unified School District who intend to pursue further studies at an accredited institution.

Butte Academy Law Enforcement Scholarship
STAR Community Credit Union has long been a supporter of the Butte College Law Enforcement Academy awarding scholarships to students attending this program. The Credit Union also has made donations to improve the facilities and services of the Academy.

CNYIN Scholarships for Young CU Members
Each Spring the California & Nevada Youth Involvement Network (CNYIN) awards three $500 scholarships to CNYIN credit union members. Scholarships may be used at any accredited college, university or trade school. Please spread the word to our young credit union members.

To Be Eligible, a Student Must Be:

• Age 25 or younger, with a minimum status of a high school senior,
• In good standing with his or her credit union and school,
• A member of a participating credit union

Each student will be required to write an essay in response to the following question: How is your credit union different than a bank and how does the difference impact you and your family? The essay must be typed, double-spaced, and may not exceed two pages. A typed, one-page resume is also required outlining the student’s community involvement and/or extracurricular activities.

The CNYIN Board will Score Essays Based on:

• Clarity of expression—composition
• Content
• Creativity
• The student’s involvement in community/extracurricular activities

CNYIN was organized in 1992 to promote financial education, credit union philosophy, and credit union products and services to young people in California and Nevada. CNYIN members have joined together to help their credit unions develop or maintain various ongoing youth programs. STAR Community Credit Union has been a member of CNYIN since 2002.
